Q: How long will it take for the agency to respond to my inquiry?
A: Agencies can take up to eight weeks to respond. Response time will depend on the issue.



Q: What information do you need to begin an inquiry on my behalf?
A: My office needs a letter from you stating the situation and requesting my assistance in getting the matter resolved. You should include your full name, address, daytime telephone number, and pertinent case or file numbers (i.e., income support ID number, Child Support Enforcement Division case number, etc.)



Q: How do I report an errant notary public?
A:

You may report improper notary activity by contacting the Secretary of State at (505) 827-3600. A New Mexico Notary Public is not a "Notario Publico" and a New Mexico Notary Public may is not the equivalent of a Notario Publico in Mexico and Latin American Countries. A New Mexico Notary may not prepare legal documents, counsel on immigration issues, file immigration papers, or use the term "Notario Publico" or any equivalent non-English term on any business card, advertisement, notice or sign.
